Manu Vishranti (Manav Sharma), a black and white portrait

Who he is

Manu Vishranti writes about the small objects a family uses to carry what it cannot say aloud. He works in English and in Hindi, building each version from the ground up rather than translating, on the understanding that a language is a way of noticing and not a set of equivalents. He also writes on meditation, and leads Neti Neti workshops. The Five Wounds, five novels and one companion volume, is his first published work of fiction.

His meditation diary puts his own notebook lines beside the scriptures, one line at a time, and lets each verse agree, disagree or answer. His game walks a player through the Sundar Kand beside thirty nine tellings of the Ramayana, and his comic lets every animal in a green forest dream of another. In Hindi he has written a novel saga in three volumes, Untalis Lankayen (उनतालीस लंकाएँ), in which a family walks through the Lankas of thirty nine tellings; it is being readied for publication. This site keeps all of it in one place.
