Accessibility

The aim is that every page works for everyone, and meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What has been done

• Every page is tested at screen widths from 320 to 2560 pixels, including phones held sideways, with no sideways scrolling.
• Text and buttons meet contrast requirements; the site's pages score 100 on automated accessibility checks.
• Pictures that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• Each page marks its language, and Hindi and English passages are marked separately, so screen readers pronounce both correctly.
• Links, buttons, tabs, the interest chooser and the book shelf can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
• If your device asks for reduced motion, the openings, animations and the moving scarf stop, and pages appear still.
• Sound is always off until you turn it on.

What is still limited

• The game's map and some animated openings are visual by nature. Their words and choices are also given as text.
• The comic's pages are pictures with descriptions; the full story in text is not yet on the site.
• The game's own screen (lanka_ki_khoj) keeps the page from zooming so the map can be dragged with a finger, and it scores lower on automated checks than the rest of the site. Its front page, with all its information, has none of these limits.
