Cookies and storage
Last updated 26 October 2026
This site sets one small cookie of its own, mv-count, and only to remember your answer about Google Analytics. The only other cookies are Google Analytics', and they are set only if you allow them. It uses no advertising or social media tools.
Google Analytics
| Name | Set by | What it is for | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
mv-count | This site | Your answer in the bar (allow, or no), so you are asked only once, on manuvishranti.com and www.manuvishranti.com alike. It holds nothing else. | 13 months |
_ga | Google Analytics | A random ID that tells one visit from the next, so visits and returning readers can be counted. | 13 months |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | The visit you are on now and how many there have been. | 13 months |
Both are set only after you press Allow in the bar at the bottom of the page. Say No thanks and Google Analytics does not load at all; a Global Privacy Control signal counts as a no. What is counted is in the privacy policy.
Your answer on this device: not made yet. Change it here:
What is stored in your browser
A few small items are kept in your browser's local storage. Each is there only because you used the feature it belongs to. None of them leaves your device.
| Name | Used by | What it remembers | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
mv_who | Home page | Which interest you chose (stories, novels, meditation, games or everything), so the home page opens the same way next time. | Until you clear it |
lanka_map_v3 | The game | Your journey in Lanka Ki Khoj: role, night, places found, and the game's own settings such as sound and calm mode. | Until you clear it |
lanka_map_v3_before | The game | One earlier copy of that journey, kept only so a mistaken restart can be undone. | Until you clear it |
mv-read-<book> | Reading The Five Wounds | For each book you buy chapters of: the keys to those chapters and your payment ID, so they stay open for you. | Until you clear it |
mv-read-pos | Reading The Five Wounds | Where you stopped in each book (the chapter and how far down it), so you can carry on. | Until you clear it |
mv-read-prefs | Reading The Five Wounds | The text size, font and colours you chose for reading, and which library you used last (English or Hindi), so the app opens in it. | Until you clear it |
mv-read-marks | Reading The Five Wounds | Your bookmarks: the places you chose to keep in each book. | Until you clear it |
mv-member | Reading The Five Wounds | Only if you buy a membership pass: which pass it is, when it ends, and the keys that open the books until then. | Until you clear it |
mv-lib | Your library | Only if you turn on a library code: the code, so this device shows the same library as your other devices. Turning it off removes it. | Until you clear it |
mv-pages, mv-assets, mv-shell | The app | Copies of the pages you opened and of the fonts and pictures they use, kept by the browser so the site opens and reads without the internet. Nothing in them is sent anywhere. | Until you clear it |
mv-book-<book> | The app | Only for a book you chose to save to read offline: its pages, and the locked chapters you own, still locked until your key opens them. Remove it from your library at any time. | Until you clear it |
mv-count | Google Analytics bar | Your answer in the bar (allow, or no), so it is asked only once. The same answer is also kept in the small mv-count cookie, so the site remembers it even where your browser empties its storage. Delete both to be asked again. | Until you clear it |
Why the bar asks only about Google Analytics
Privacy laws such as the EU's ePrivacy rules, the UK's PECR and similar rules elsewhere ask for consent before a site stores or reads anything on your device, except when it is strictly needed for something you asked for. The items in your browser's local storage are exactly that: they remember a choice you made or the game you are playing, so they need no permission. Google Analytics is not needed for anything you asked for, so the bar asks first, once, and remembers your answer.
How to clear them
Clearing this site's data and cookies in your browser settings removes them all, along with your answer about Google Analytics, so the bar will ask again. If that removes chapters you bought, open them again with your payment ID. In most browsers: open the site settings for manuvishranti.com and choose Clear data, or clear your browsing data for all time. Private or incognito windows delete them when you close the window. To choose a different interest without clearing anything, use the button at the top of the home page.
Other services
The home page map loads its pictures from OpenStreetMap, which sets no cookies for them. When you choose to pay for a chapter, Razorpay's payment window may use its own cookies or storage while you pay, only for that payment. Links to Google Maps, Instagram and other sites only take you there when you click; any cookies on those sites are theirs. See the privacy policy for more.
